Album of the Week: The Beatles’ Abbey Road
Whenever I debate my favorite album from The Beatles, Abbey Road is invariably mentioned. Why? Well, for one thing, it has “Something” on it, arguably one of the greatest love songs of all-time. Also among the tracks on this record are “Oh! Darling” and “I Want You (She’s So Heavy),” two more of my favorites by the Fab Four. And lastly, the entire B-side, what is now known as “The Abbey Road Medley.” I mean…does it get any better than this?

Paul’s live version was the only one that YouTube didn’t strip of the audio… On my phone, however, I have the original song.

On This Day: The Beatles and Layne Staley

August 22nd was a big day in The Beatles’ history. In 1962, their first TV appearance was recorded as they played The Cavern Club in Liverpool.
In 1963, Billy J. Kramer and the Dakotas were at number one on the UK singles chart with “Bad to Me,” a song written for them by John Lennon.
In 1968, Ringo Starr quit the band during the recording of The White Album. He returned in September.
And in 1969, The Beatles met at John Lennon’s home for their final photo shoot.

Layne Staley, front man for Alice in Chains, was born on this day in 1967.
Happy Birthday + News
Today, we were given two great talents! Happy birthday to Ringo Starr and Brian Haner, Junior (aka Synyster Gates).

And now for the news: Alter Bridge had their listening party for the upcoming album last night. The title is The Last Hero, and it will be released in October. ❤
Throwback Thursday: “Photograph”
I grew up listening to The Beatles with my mom. I always loved Ringo’s solo stuff. I remember going to see Ringo and his all star band when I was really little, around the age of six or seven. He waved at me and it basically made my life. Lol. This year, my dad took my mom to see them for Valentine’s Day. To say that Ringo’s music–actually, the music of every member of the Beatles, both individually and together–has played a huge role in my life would be an understatement. So today I decided to make my throwback track “Photograph,” from the album Ringo, released in 1973.
