Cover vs. Cover: “Deutschland”

In August 2023, A Tribute to Rammstein was released. The album features covers of some of the German metal titans’ well-known songs, such as “Du Hast,” “Sonne,” and “Engel,” by bands like The 69 Eyes, Skold, and Priest.

Rammstein’s ode to their country, “Deutschland,” is also there, provided to the record by Front Line Assembly.

But did you know there is another rendition of the epic track?

Dutch-Italian singer, guitarist, songwriter, and video director Giovanni Bucci, aka ODDKO, unleashed his version earlier this year. I just stumbled across it and I must say… I think I prefer it. No shade thrown at Front Line Assembly, but there’s something about it.

Check out both of these covers and decide for yourself. FLA and ODDKO stayed true to the original.

A Tribute Album to Rammstein is Coming Soon!

When I say “soon,” I mean soon. As in, August 25th. Four days from now.

I had heard the covers of “Feuer Frei!” by The 69 Eyes and “Engel” by Priest, and I thought it was kind of odd (and awesome) that suddenly everyone was releasing their take on infamous Rammstein tracks. Then, I stumbled across a post on a Front Line Assembly fan page and saw that those two releases are part of a bigger project.

I’m pretty excited about this! The album features versions of songs such as “Du Hast,” “Sonne,” “Radio,” and “Deutschland,” by a slew of artists, including Front Line Assembly, Skold, Julien-K, and more. I will include the full track list below. You can order your copy on Cleopatra Records’ site.

Throwback Post: Top 5 Music Videos Based on Horror Films

This post was originally published in October 2019.

It’s October, which means spooky season, my favorite time of the year! I would have done a lot of horror/Halloween-themed posts if everything hadn’t been so hectic. But alas, that’s life.

With that being said, there are still seven days left until the month’s end, so I have time to get some of my Spooktober ideas uploaded.

My first special post for October is a Top Five list featuring music videos based on horror movies! Over the years, several artists have paid homage to their favorite scary film. The trend is most prevalent in the rock and metal genres, which is appropriate, don’t you think?

And here we go! (These are in no particular order.)

1. “The Kill” – Thirty Seconds to Mars // Based on Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining

2. “Beim Ersten Mal Tut’s Immer Weh” – Oomph! // Based on the psychological thriller Hard Candy, directed by David Slade and starring Ellen Page

3. “Engel” – Rammstein // Based on the snake dance scene in From Dusk Till Dawn

4. “Living Dead Girl” – Rob Zombie // Based on the 1920 silent horror film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, with a nod to White Zombie as well

5. “Hell in the Hallways” – Ice Nine Kills // Based on the film adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie

My 10 Favorite Rammstein Memes

I was going through my photos on Facebook and realized how many Rammstein memes I’ve shared since 2019, so I decided to compile my top ten (in no particular order).

This will always be the top one. I can HEAR this 😂
I actually have a German friend…but she’s never heard me sing along with Rammstein.
If you don’t know anything about the NFL, you might not get this one. Lol. I had to explain it to my friend from Australia.

It’s Rammstein Release Day!

Rammstein’s eighth studio album, Zeit, dropped today! You can listen on YouTube or your favorite streaming services (or go buy it if you’re lucky enough to live somewhere that still has a music store). I pre-ordered both a vinyl copy and the special edition CD, but they won’t arrive until next week. What’s the point in pre-ordering? Lol.

Along with the full album being released today, Rammstein shared their third single from Zeit, a track entitled “Angst,” and its official video. Check it out below and spend this glorious day blasting the eleven new songs from our favorite Germans.

Rammstein Announces New Album Release Date

The infamous Rammstein is gracing us with a new album this year. The record, entitled Zeit (Time), is set to be released on April 29th. The first single – the title track – was shared only five days ago and already has over 7 million views on YouTube. It is a poetic piece that addresses age and the passing of time. Check it out here and preorder the album via rammstein.lnk.to/Zeit.
