What I’m Listening To: Hollywood Undead

I know I’m late to the party, so to speak, but I just decided to check out Hollywood Undead’s 2017 release, Five. Amazon Music is a wonderful thing. Lol.

Anyway, my favorite track I’ve heard so far is “Bad Moon.” I highly recommend you give it a chance.

What I’m Listening To: Crosses

This fits with my album of the week…

I am currently listening to “Bitches Brew” by Crosses (side project of Deftones’ Chino Moreno), featured on the American Satan soundtrack. I love this song! If you haven’t heard it, enjoy!

What I’m Listening To: Andy Black

I wasn’t overly impressed with “Ribcage” or “We Don’t Have to Dance,” so yeah, it took me a while to sit down and listen to The Shadow Side.

Overall, I enjoyed the album. It was certainly a departure from Black Veil Brides (always a plus when you decide to do a side project). The Shadow Side will likely find its way into my CD player many more times.

Though there are multiple high points, my absolute favorite track is “Put the Gun Down.” Check it out:

What I’m Listening To: Neon Coven

This could get lengthy…

Nine years ago, I went to a show in Huntsville, Alabama. The band’s playing were Within Reason and Lynam. I fell head over heels for Lynam (as many of you know, if you’ve been following me for a while).

I was super dedicated, and I saw more than 100 shows in a span of six years. In 2012, Lynam vocalist/guitarist Jacob Bunton joined the band formed by ex-Guns ‘N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler, called…Adler. He took on the role of front man. They released an album entitled Back From the Dead.

Adler was put on hiatus when Steven went back into rehab. And that pretty much brings us to the subject of this blog.

Jacob is in yet another band: Neon Coven. He’s not the front man this time, which is odd for me. Lol. However, I really like this band.

Much as with his other endeavors, the influence of 80’s music on Jacob is evident. Neon Coven is reminiscent of the electronica/new wave artists of his favored decade. (They have actually covered a Depeche Mode song.)

Perhaps my favorite thing about Neon Coven, though, is their lyrics. They have a dark edge that appeals to me — and is rather different from both Lynam and Adler.

Anyway, give Neon Coven a listen! I’m including my two favorite tracks, “Bleeding Love” and “Queen of Scars.”

What I’m Listening To: Myles Kennedy

I’m addicted to all things related to Alter Bridge, in case you didn’t notice. Naturally, that means 2018 is going to be great for me. Myles Kennedy is finally releasing his first (technically second) solo album, entitled Year of the Tiger, in March; and Mark Tremonti’s other band will have a record out at some point next year.

Today, the title track from Myles’s album was released. It is very different from his work with both Alter Bridge and Slash. I love seeing another facet to this artist I admire so much! Check it out and feel free to leave a comment telling me your thoughts!

What I’m Listening To: Clone the Dead

This was actually sent to me in a comment on another post. Clone the Dead is a new rap metal band, similar to Hollywood Undead. “Half a Life” is currently the only track they have published on YouTube.

I liked this song and would definitely be interested in hearing more. Give it a play and see what you think!

Now Playing (07): Almost Kings

This rap/rock band from Atlanta, Georgia, is one of my favorites, both musically and personally. They have been recording recently, for which I am very excited, but at the moment I’m listening to “Bang Loud” from the Club Rock EP (2011).

Now Playing (06): Alter Bridge

I told y’all Alter Bridge would show up more than once! Lol. I love these guys, and lately I have been obsessed with the song “Words Darker Than Their Wings” from AB III.
