The Mostly Music 2024 Playlist, Pt. 1 (Updated 1/14/24)

Happy New Year! We’re only two weeks in to 2024, and there has already been a lot of fantastic music released. I have compiled as many singles from the past fourteen days as I can into a Spotify playlist. This year, I’m doing a separate playlist for every three months instead of four, so there will be four parts total.

Here are the songs added from January 1st to today, January 14th.

The Mostly Music 2023 Playlist, Pt. 3 (Updated 9/24/23)

Over the last two weeks, there have been several amazing singles released by some truly talented bands/artists! Here are the tracks I recently added to the playlist.

The Mostly Music 2023 Playlist, Pt. 3 (Updated 9/10/23)

So I have been remiss and have not posted all of the singles that have been added to parts one and two of my 2023 playlist, but from this post onward, I plan to stay on top of the third installment for the rest of the year. (This is quite the massive undertaking; as previously stated, in 2024, I will be dividing the playlists into more digestible segments – perhaps grouping only three months of singles into each rather than four.)

If you are interested, I will link the other two playlists at the end of this post. For now, here is the first group of singles I added to part three. I usually do two weeks’ worth at a time, as some weeks there are very few releases to share.

Also, this list is far from comprehensive. I tend to focus on independent bands/artists who are not backed by major labels. I’m sure I miss an entire world of tracks by other indie artists/bands. You can feel free to comment with a few, if you’d like!

The Mostly Music Spotify Playlist for 2023

So last year, I started a playlist for the blog and Facebook page, but I didn’t create it until…ah, late summer or early fall. Which means when I did my Top 30 of 2022, I had missed a lot of music.

Well, I created a playlist in January and have been adding new releases every week. I know I’m missing songs, but I am keeping up with as many bands as I possibly can (though I’m leaving out the big names, such as Asking Alexandria, The Smashing Pumpkins, Avenged Sevenfold, etc.; they get enough promotion). I am dividing this year’s singles into three separate playlists, each encompassing four months’ worth of releases, because otherwise the sheer number of songs – and the running time – will become overwhelming.

If you’re interested in checking them out, here are the links. It would be cool if you gave them a listen, or even just shared them. I want to help all these amazing bands/artists to be heard!

Next year, I’m only doing three months at a time. Lol.

Keep Your Head Up (A Playlist)

A few weeks ago, I posted a blog about the songs that have helped me through hard times. I only included ten, but obviously there are so many more! With this in mind, I created a YouTube playlist.

Songs for Solace, Comfort, & Encouragement

Included are bands such as Linkin Park, Good Charlotte, Asking Alexandria, Alter Bridge, and Three Days Grace! Feel free to comment — here or on YouTube — with your own additions to the playlist!

Halloween Playlist 2017

It is October!!!! The weather is cooler, my football team is undefeated, and I’ve already bought some Halloween swag because, let’s be honest, it’s the best holiday. So now it’s time for my Halloween playlist. I didn’t do this last year, but I swear it will be tradition from now on.

First and foremost, I have to include some Marilyn Manson and Alice Cooper, because honestly, how can you go wrong with either?

1. Marilyn Manson: “Dope Hat”

2. M. Manson: “Tourniquet”

3. M. Manson: “The Dope Show”

4. Alice Cooper: “Some Folks”

5. Alice Cooper: “The Black Widow”

6. Alice Cooper: “Welcome to My Nightmare”

Now, there are several songs by several bands/artists I put on my previous Halloween playlist that I would still highly recommend. For instance, “Love You to Death” by Type O Negative, and The 69 Eyes’ “Velvet Touch.” You just can’t go wrong with anything that has an eerie, sexy, dark vibe to it.

This year, I have discovered a few more bands/artists I feel must be honored during October.

7. Ghost: “Square Hammer”

8. Ghost: “Missionary Man” (a cover, but I’m obsessed!)

9. Ghost: “Body and Blood”

10. The 69 Cats: “Bela Lugosi’s Dead” (another cover; still a must-have!)

11. Third Realm: “Dance Like You Wanna Die”

12. Third Realm: “Sick Mind”

13. Third Realm: “Invitation to Hell”

14. Amerakin Overdose: “Dead Girl on the Dance Floor”

15. Fever Ray: “The Wolf”

16. Levitika: “Zombie Barbie”

17. Puscifer: “The Undertaker”

18. Tim Skold: “Better the Devil”

19. Tim Skold: “Neverland”

20. Lisa Hannigan: “You Haunt Me”

21. 9 Electric: “Naked”

22. Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds: “Red Right Hand”

These are simply my recent finds! Add in some Depeche Mode, London After Midnight, and Rammstein, as well. I personally love the gothic industrial genre. Or you can just throw on the Queen of the Damned soundtrack, which I love!
