Nightmare
New Music Alert: Alter Bridge, American Grim, and I Prevail
Is it any surprise I’m posting about the new Alter Bridge single, “In the Deep”? No? Okay.
The intro reminded me so much of “Take You With Me” by Tremonti, and while the lyrics are lovely, the song did not resonate with me the way AB tracks typically do. Still, I believe it is worth a listen.
Last week, I somehow missed the fact that American Grim had released a new song entitled “Nightmare.”
I stand by my earlier comparison of the band to the Murderdolls, American Grim’s sound a little fuller than the horror punk outfit’s. “Nightmare” stays true to the sound and style American Grim has crafted. I enjoyed it quite a bit.
And finally, because I like to do lists of at least 3-5, I Prevail shared the official video for “Gasoline,” off their latest album Trauma.
The video is cinematic, dealing with very intense subject matter, appropriate for such a harsh, heavy track (both musically and lyrically).
Bonus: Lindemann — which features Rammstein front man Till Lindemann alongside Peter Tägtgren of both Hypocrisy and PAIN — announced earlier today that they will be releasing the first single, “Steh Auf,” from their sophomore record on Friday the 13th!
Band Crush Monday: Avenged Sevenfold
With Metal Hammer‘s announcement of a tribute to Avenged Sevenfold, entitled Hail to the Kings, and the fact that front man M. Shadows is in the new Ghost video, I decided to post a blog about the band that stole my heart in 2005.
My introduction to Avenged Sevenfold came during a difficult time in my life. At seventeen, I lost my boyfriend. I had some really great people helping me get through it, and one of those individuals played me Waking the Fallen. I was immediately in love. Over the years, I have met some of my best friends through a shared love of these guys.
So, in honor of my forever band crush, here are some photos of and my favorite videos from Avenged Sevenfold.

“Bat Country”
“Afterlife”
“Unholy Confessions”
“Hail to the King”
“Save Me”
“Exist”
“Acid Rain”
Now Playing (02): Avenged Sevenfold
In case you were wondering, I’m numbering these because I’m sure some artists will appear in multiple posts, and sometimes it’s a song, sometimes it’s an album… I just want everyone to be able to easily recognize the different posts. 🙂
Today, on my way to my brother’s apartment, I put in Avenged Sevenfold’s Nightmare. The title track struck me anew, and so that is what is now playing…
Stranded on an Island (Music Edition)
So we’ve all seen the hypothetical “if you were on an island and could only bring five things, what would they be?” Well, this is the music version. What ten albums would you have to have with you? Obviously, this is my list and it is in no particular order.
Pink Floyd: The Wall
Almost everyone’s essential Pink Floyd, and why wouldn’t it be? I also love the movie.

Tom Petty: Wildflowers
I was such a Tom Petty fangirl when I was little. This is my favorite, closely followed by Full Moon Fever.

Marilyn Manson: Mechanical Animals
Love this album from start to finish.

Avenged Sevenfold: Nightmare
It used to be City of Evil, but I like the diversity from track to track on Nightmare.

Tremonti: All I Was
Another one I can play without skipping a single song ❤

Collective Soul’s self-titled album
My other original band crush ❤

Disturbed: Down With the Sickness
Though I’d hate not having their version of “Sound of Silence.”

The Beatles: Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band
Gotta have something by the Fan Four and my mom used to sing me “Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds.”

Alter Bridge: Blackbird
Um, duh!

Lynam: Slave to the Machine
Still my favorite by them and always will be.

Feel free to make your own list! 🙂
