My Favorite Christmas Cover Songs

I’m not a huge fan of Christmas music, but every now and then a rock band takes a Christmas classic and makes it bearable. Lol. So here are my top 5 favorite Christmas covers.

Small Town Titans: “You’re a Mean One, Mr. Grinch”

Originally performed by Thurl Ravenscroft

This is the best of the best. His voice, the arrangement, that dirty bass intro… Perfection.

Shinedown: “Happy X-Mas (War Is Over)”

Originally performed by John Lennon

I love this song anyway, but Brent Smith singing can take any song to another level.

Throne of Eden: “Christmas Canon Rock”

Originally performed by Trans-Siberian Orchestra

Trans-Siberian Orchestra: “Carol of the Bells”

Original performed by students at Kyiv University in December 1916; music composed by Mykola Leontovych and lyrics written by Peter J. Wilhousky

From Ashes to New: “All I Want for Christmas is You”

Originally performed by Mariah Carey

Merry Christmas!

I will not be posting tomorrow, nor any next week. I am giving myself a vacation. Lol. So there will be no album of the week, playlist challenge updates, or anything else. I just wanted to let y’all know. I will be back early in the new year, and I have some things that might be happening in regard to this blog. Wish me luck!

With all of that said, I would like to thank everyone following this blog, and I hope all of you have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Merry Christmas! (2016)

Today has been absolutely wonderful! I spent it with my loved ones, exchanging gifts and eating delicious food. As far as music goes, I was given a copy of AFI’s Sing the Sorrow, the anniversary edition of My Chemical Romance’s The Black Parade, and Avenged Sevenfold’s Live in the LBC Diamonds in the Rough on vinyl. I was quite pleased.

I hope all of you have enjoyed your holiday weekend! Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays! I will be taking a break from blogging next week. It’s going to be a busy seven days: I work every day until the weekend, then Saturday is the Peach Bowl as well as New Year’s Eve. I will be ringing in 2017 with one of my best friends. Needless to say, all of this means I won’t have a lot of time for posting. But I will be back January 2nd with a new album of the week, artist of the week, and a few “Bands You Should Know” blogs!

Song of the Week: “The Christmas Song”

I’m hanging out with my best friends, eating cookies, playing video games, and listening to music. This is definitely the best way to spend Christmas Eve Eve.

London After Midnight — “The Christmas Song,” from the album Oddities (1998).

Merry Christmas!

The last few days have really ignited my Christmas spirit. I’ve had a lot of fun shopping for my friends and family, and a lot of fun trying to figure out what they got for me. 🙂

On Saturday, I went to a Lynam show with my brother Rick. It had been a while since we’d seen that particular band together. We had a fantastic time…even if David did take a shot at me for wearing my Alabama shirt. Ha! I even got an early Christmas present from the band: David let me hear some of the new stuff they’ve been recording. It was definitely different than what I’m used to from them, but in a good way. I love the idea of them exploring the extremes of their creativity. ❤

L to R: Mark, Jacob, and David

In other news, Almost Kings has finished the writing/preproduction stage for their new album and will begin recording in January. I AM SO EXCITED!

I hope that all of my followers have a very Merry Christmas. I’ll be back in the new year!
