Album of the Week: Black Veil Brides’ Vale

I figured since I’m seeing them soon, I should honor Black Veil Brides this week. With Vale as their most recent release, and the record I’ve been listening to a lot over the last few days, I chose it as my album of the week.

Album of the Week: Adema’s Unstable

I went through a mild obsession with Adema after hearing “Giving In” and “The Way You Like It” from their self-titled debut. The last song by the band that I remember getting any air play was the title track to this record, “Unstable,” released in 2003.

Album of the Week: KMFDM’s Attak

Attak has the very first KMFDM song I ever heard on it (track six, “Yohoho”). I have recently found my way back to KMFDM, thanks to my love of Tim Sköld, so I wanted to feature them and this album.

Album of the Week: Jesus Christ Superstar

Jesus Christ Superstar is one of my mom’s favorite albums, and I have been listening to it for literally my whole life. From start to finish, this is one of the most complete and well-done records out there. Told mostly from the point of view of Judas Iscariot, this rock opera recounts the last week of Jesus’s life.

If you have never heard it, I suggest you remedy that immediately.

Album of the Week: Powerman 5000’s Tonight the Stars Revolt!

I can remember being at CD Exchange when they still had portable CD players set up so customers could sample albums. I decided to give Tonight the Stars Revolt! a shot after reading about PM5K in a magazine. I loved it, and that led to me being quite the Powerman 5000 fan for a while.

Album of the Week: Godsmack’s Awake

Awake was the first album I owned by Godsmack. I was obsessed with the title track, as well as “Greed” and “Bad Magick.” (What can I say? They did very well choosing the singles from this record!)

Album of the Week: Backstreet Boys’ Never Gone

I was a huge BSB fan when I was younger. Never Gone is the last album of theirs that I listened to in its entirety.

Album of the Week: Marilyn Manson’s Born Villain

Okay, full disclosure.

After the release of The Golden Age of Grotesque, I ventured away from Marilyn Manson. There was nothing deep about the departure. I simply found other bands I enjoyed more and MM was stuck on the back burner. However, recently, I have returned to one of my original favorites and checked out all that I missed.

Born Villain stood out to me, particularly the track “Pistol Whipped.” I’m not sure why, I just love the song and most of what I’ve heard from this record. And so I’ve chosen Born Villain as my album of the week.

Album of the Week: Deathstars’ Termination Bliss

The second song I ever heard by Deathstars was “Tongues,” and I was obsessed with it. A friend of mine decided to surprise me with copies of both Synthetic Generation and Termination Bliss. As much as I love both records, the latter is my favorite.

Album of the Week: Matchbox 20’s Yourself or Someone Like You

I’m throwing it back again this week. I loved Matchbox 20 when they first emerged, and I will proudly state that I think Yourself or Someone Like You is their best album. My favorite track is “Back 2 Good.”
