Throwback Post: Top 5 Songs About Vampires

This post was originally published back in 2019.

Happy Halloween!!!!

Have you ever stopped to think about how many artists have written about vampires over the years? I’m sure there’s a case to be made for other supernatural creatures, but vampires are my favorite so I’m gonna feature them.

Note: This list is in no particular order and doesn’t even begin to skim the surface of its subject matter.

1. Die Krupps: “The Vampire Strikes Back”

Fun fact – This track was listed as a Rammstein song entitled “Vampire” years ago, and many people still believe it’s them.

2. Type O Negative: “Suspended In Dusk”

3. Atreyu: “The Crimson”

How could I not include Atreyu? They did an entire album centered around vampires!

4. David Draiman: “Forsaken”

This may be my favorite on the list. David Draiman’s voice is so ridiculously sexy, and he fits the whole eerie vampy vibe very well.

5. Blutengel: “Vampire”

Throwback Thursday: “Try To Fight It” by Shallow Side

Had to share this throwback from my Alabama boys! It was one of the first songs I heard by them, and I specifically remember buying the CD at a show where they opened for the Georgia-based Almost Kings. Now Shallow Side is blazing a path that can’t be stopped and I’m so proud. Lol.

Throwback Thursday: “If You Could Only See” by Tonic

Three TBTs in a row? This might be a trend I manage to keep up with.

I actually made a 90s playlist on Spotify and “If You Could Only See” was one of the songs I considered a must-add. Of course, I appreciate it much more as a woman in her 30s than I did as a teen. Haha! Give it a listen and embrace the nostalgia!

Throwback Thursday: “Save Tonight” by Eagle-Eye Cherry

I actually did a TBT post two weeks in a row! I’m so proud of myself!

So, Eagle-Eye Cherry’s “Save Tonight” is another one that plays when my 90’s alt. rock loving boss is controlling the tunes. Whatever station he has it on is pretty great.

Throwback Thursday: “Counting Blue Cars” by Dishwalla

This is another thing I’d love to do weekly, but I know who I am as a human being and I know I’ll forget. Lol.

So, each of my managers has a preferred type of music (s)he puts on when at work, and the main boss man is a 90’s alternative kind of guy. Almost every day he’s there Dishwalla’s “Counting Blue Cars” plays, and I have rediscovered my appreciation for it. Ergo, I had to share it for my first Throwback Thursday post.

Throwback Thursday: Five “When the Lights Go Out”

I remember listening to “When the Lights Go Out” on repeat during a field trip in middle school 😂 I’m not even ashamed, just a product of my generation! If you have any fond memories of Five, crank it up!

Throwback Thursday: “Don’t Come Around Here No More”

Tom Petty was my first rock star crush. My parents took me to see him twice when I was eight-years-old. This is not my favorite song by him, though it is one of them. However, I really adore this video. 🙂

Throwback Thursday … Not a song this time, but memories

Next week, I am going to celebrate my birthday with Almost Kings. This is becoming a tradition. I have now spent three absolutely amazing birthdays with those four crazy and wonderful guys from Atlanta. I decided for my throwback post this week I would share photos from those nights–and a video that is simultaneously embarrassing and epic 🙂
