Happy Birthday to Me!

No, today is not my birthday. Monday was, but I wasn’t anywhere near a computer so I couldn’t blog about my absolutely amazing weekend!!!!!

Friday night, we went to see Jude Buckingham and Almost Kings. The performances were epic, as always, and Boze pulled me onstage during “Five Foot Hurricane.” Almost Kings did a few new songs (and premiered one over the club’s PA before their set) and let me just say that I already know I’m going to love the album. I didn’t get my usual post-show time with the guys because I had apparently partied a little too hard during…

Anyway, the following night, my friends threw me a little party at their house. We had breakfast for dinner–lemon poppy seed waffles, red velvet waffles, bacon, blackberry sauce, a tropical fruit compote, ham rolls, and a drink that consisted of watermelon and Malibu rum. My parents ate with us and stayed long enough to check out my gifts, then they went home and the rest of us watched lame horror movies until bedtime.

It was truly a fantastic weekend, filled with most of my favorite people, music, laughter, and love. I couldn’t have wished for a better celebration. 🙂

Throwback Thursday … Not a song this time, but memories

Next week, I am going to celebrate my birthday with Almost Kings. This is becoming a tradition. I have now spent three absolutely amazing birthdays with those four crazy and wonderful guys from Atlanta. I decided for my throwback post this week I would share photos from those nights–and a video that is simultaneously embarrassing and epic 🙂

More Pictures With the Princess

I can’t believe Ivy is almost two now! That totally blows my mind!

So for those who don’t know, this beautiful little girl is my best friend’s first child. She knows me as “Aunt Mia” and in all honesty, I absolutely adore this kid. She loves having her picture taken (as you can see) and she understands the concept of a selfie…which is a bit sad, but that’s the world we live in.

I’m not a photographer by any means, but I do love my camera! I simply felt like sharing some things that make my life what it is…and a couple of random selfies.

This Made My Heart Happy

So yeah, this is a bit random, but I totally just had a moment when I checked my email. I posted the pictures of me with Mark Tremonti and Eric Friedman to Twitter…and both men replied to my tweets!!!!!

I know Mark is actually responsible for his own account, and I figure Eric is too, which makes this even better, of course.

Just wanted to share my happiness with y’all. 🙂 I hope if you’re reading this that you are having an equally wonderful day!

Things I Love [A Personal Blog]

Let me start off with this.

Image

I love Jacob. So much. And these five…

Image

I love the way Ryan Yunker [closest to the camera in the photo above] always likes my statuses on Facebook.

And the way we can talk about Avenged Sevenfold constantly.

I love the way Kevin Compton [third from the front in the same photo] told me I was one of his favorite people.

Speaking of the band, I love Almost Kings. That’s them with the broken down van. Ha!

I love this goofball.

Image

I love Lynam. And Within Reason. And The Velcro Pygmies. And Rearview Ghost. And Shallow Side. And Super bob. And Avenged Sevenfold. And Alter Bridge. And Pink Floyd.

I love music, okay?

I love this girl.

Image

And the fact that she sent me a text telling me to be careful and that she loved me one of the last times tornadoes came through Alabama.

I love riding in a car with her, windows down and music up!

I love Harry Potter.

I love books!

I love watching movies with my dad.

And cooking with my mom and my brother.

And hanging out with my best friend Tiffany and her husband and her adorable daughter.

And how cute my cat is when she cleans between her toes.

Image

And dancing onstage.

Image

And singing…

Image

And Alabama football.

I love vegging out with my girls, eating junk food and mocking lame horror movies.

I love video games.

I could go on and on, but I’m going to stop here. Sometimes, I think it’s good to sit down and list the things you love and are thankful for, just to make sure they still outnumber the negatives in your life. Right now, I’d say I have a lot of reasons to be here. =)

Music & Family

Music has always been a big thing in my family. Ever since I can remember, we’ve been going to shows together. I know for a fact that my parents took me to shows while I was still in a stroller, and I can clearly remember seeing Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers for the first time…when I was six.

For years, my brother and I tagged along with Mom and Dad, watching classic rock acts of which they were fans. Now, however, we are much older and we have begun carrying our parents to shows. Well, our mom, at any rate. Dad isn’t very sociable anymore.

I am a huge fan of local acts, as everyone who follows this blog has surely realized. I hang out at shows so much that I’m recognized by bands, staff at the venues, etc. I made it my mission to introduce my mom to that world (she didn’t frequent the local scene when she was younger). I was most insistent that she attend a Lynam show with me, for they are the band that I am closest to. She has now seen them four or five times, and she adores vocalist/guitarist Jacob Bunton almost as much as I do.

Anyway, a little over a week ago, she and I hit a Lynam show. My brother joined us after work. I had the best time with two of my family members there. Jacob even gave my mom a shout-out from the stage.

And now, pictures!

Framing the Red

Snow!

Okay, it may not look like much to you, but to us in Alabama, six to eight inches is like the Snowpocalypse. It started around 1:30 p.m. and didn’t stop until after midnight. What made it really fun was the fact that the next day, the temperature rose to 41 degrees and everything started melting…then the temperature dropped into the 20s and all that crap froze.

But wait!

By the end of the weekend, the high will possibly be in the upper 50s, maybe even 60. Gotta love Alabama weather.

God I Love These Nights

This past Friday, Jesse and I went to see Almost Kings in Birmingham. It was a truly epic evening. I had not seen the band or my friends that were there in five months, and believe me when I say it was quite a reunion! 🙂 I had missed all of those sweet faces so much! ❤

Almost Kings opened their set with a new song…which is cool, except now I’m dying for the new album…and from the word “Go,” all four of them gave 110%. In case I haven’t mentioned it lately, Almost Kings are some of the best performers out there. It’s not possible to be bored during their shows–or afterward, when hanging out with them. I can’t wait to do it again in March.

In closing, I have to add that it made my night being able to play part of Mark Tremonti’s solo album All I Was for Ryan. Is that lame? Maybe. I don’t care, though. Sharing music with someone is the best.

And, of course, here are some pictures from the evening:

These Pictures Makes Me Smile

Yeah…that’s Jacob Lynam. I realized I hadn’t previously mentioned this show, which happened back in October. I don’t think there’s much to say about it, though, because this picture explains without words how the night went.

Oh, wait, and then there’s this one:

That totally earns another heart.

I guess I created this post for no other reason than to make up for not blogging last week.
