5 Bands/Artists You Should Be Following [Week Two]

I’m kicking off this week’s list with a couple of Instagram discoveries.

1. Cody Katastrophic

A singer/songwriter as well as a guitarist. He has a few covers posted, but this is what captured my attention.

2. Monowhales

An indie band from Toronto. I stumbled across them after their guitarist Zach followed me 🙂 This is their most recent single.

3. Almost Kings

If you’ve been paying attention, you already know about my love of this Atlanta-based rap/rock band. And if you haven’t listened to them yet, what are you doing with your life?! Lol.

4. Matt Gothic (Metal Matt)

A solo artist from Bristol, UK. He recently uploaded some videos of himself playing with a full band, so you should definitely check out my favorite, “You Know That I’m Here.”

5 Bands/Artists You Should Be Following

I decided to start doing this once a week. I am following so many bands/artists on my various social media, and I think y’all should be too! Also, if you have recommendations of your own, feel free to comment!

1. Skellington

A metal band from Sweden, Skellington is currently working on new music. You can hear all of their music on Spotify, but to make your lives easier:

Check them out on Facebook and Instagram.

2. Devils Envy

I shared their most recent single, “Psycho,” not too long ago. Devils Envy is a kick-ass rock band from Orlando, Florida. Here is the video for “Look At Me Now.”

5. Throne of Eden

Bands You Should Know: Stonefeather

Stonefeather actually asked to be featured on my blog via Instagram. I wasted little time in checking out their latest video for the song “Ride On.” I was immediately in love.

Hailing from California, it is no surprise that Stonefeather employs an eclectic mix of rock, funk, and the blues. The tracks “Ride On” and “Electrify” showcase their classic rock influences, which include Cream, Jimi Hendrix, and Led Zeppelin, while songs like “Crack Cocaine,” “Kush Doctor,” and “What U Want” pay tribute to more current artists such as Rage Against the Machine and Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Stonefeather is definitely one of my new favorites. I highly recommend that you find the time to listen to them. Below are my top three Stonefeather tracks.

Bands You Should Know: Stealing Eden

Stealing Eden was another of my Twitter discoveries. I believe they followed me first. I followed back, then they had a contest of sorts on Instagram, so I began following them there as well.

Any band that I come across on Twitter or IG, I give a chance. It took me a bit to get around to listening to Stealing Eden, and I regret that because they are really great. A mix of Breaking Benjamin and Daughtry, the vocals are melodic while the lyrics are meaningful and the music itself leans more towards hard rock.

Don’t take my word for it, though. Check Stealing Eden out for yourself. Here are my three favorite tracks.

Bands You Should Know: Like a Storm

Like a Storm isn’t exactly one of those bands you’ve never heard of, but I guess I was late to the party. I stumbled across them on Twitter. Their page was suggested to me based on my other likes, so I went to YouTube and listened to “Love the Way You Hate Me.” I don’t think it’s a big surprise that after finding everything I could online, I ordered their 2015 release Awaken the Fire.

For those of you who are like I was and are unfamiliar with Like a Storm, the band hails from New Zealand. They fall into multiple genres, including hard rock and alternative metal. But they are also in a category that is all their own: didgeridoo metal. Wanna know why? Well, just check out the songs below.

“Love the Way You Hate Me”

“Wish You Hell”

“Ordinary” (my personal favorite)
